Selection process
Stallholders will be selected by a panel of artists and designers.
This event celebrates the printmaking methods used to create the printed works as much as the content and quality. Stalls will be more likely offered to those with original work which is created using traditional and hands-on printmaking, over those who work solely in digital mediums.
Selection criteria
Applications will be judged on the following points:
- Quality and uniqueness of work.
- Variety and newness: applications may not be successful if you have taken part in our most previous event and do not have anything new to showcase.
- Originality: work must not be based on pre-existing intellectual properties.
- Presentation of work and quality of images provided with applications.
- Print media used within the work: spaces offered to those who work in purely digital mediums will be limited.
- Price range of work: The fair needs to be accessible to a broad audience who are looking to purchase affordable art.
What can be sold
The primary focus is unique and affordable art, so the majority products at the fair should be paper based art prints.
We will accept the following:
- Original art prints created using traditional and non-traditional print media;
- Unique textile homewares which are hand printed or feature original patterns and designs;
- Comics, zines and sequential art from indie publishers.
If you sell homeware and accessories alongside your prints as part of a collection, we’re happy for you to bring those along too. Products such as greetings cards or comics and zines are also very welcome at the fair.
Our audience
Liverpool is a city brimming with art lovers, where creativity and a sense of community are often seen as its defining strengths. It’s a place where people value art and culture, but tighter budgets can influence spending habits.
In recent years, we’ve noticed shoppers increasingly gravitating toward smaller, more affordable prints. Offering a selection of pocket-money-priced pieces can make a real difference, not only for locals but also for tourists who stumble upon our fair. Smaller prints are easy to carry home and serve as a perfect memento of their visit to Liverpool.
We encourage you to keep both the collectors and the impulse buyers in mind while planning what to bring on the day. Sales will likely be slower for artists with only large prints for sale, but if you strike up the right conversation and talk passionately about your work, people will be proud to take one of your pieces home with them.
Other considerations
We place a strong emphasis on the hard work and processes which go into the items for sale, which is something we want to share with the people of Liverpool.
It’s really important to us that artists are present on the day of the fair to be able to add an extra dimension to their work and make it more personal to the audience. For this reason, applicants found to be double booked with Liverpool Print Fair and a similar event elsewhere may have their stall offer revoked and offered to another applicant.
